"We have been using your Digital Error Detector (DED) and the CD-CHECK disc for some time now and are very pleased with the results. Looking after 30 or so CD players and close to 50 DAT recorders in our station has just become a lot easier. We use the disc (CD-CHECK) to evaluate the CD players before they fail in an on air situation, or whenever an operator reports questionable operation. The DED has improved the reliability of the DAT machines, allowing us to check out the decks after repairs, and routinely before they fail. Keep up the good work ..." Ensure 100% of sound reproduction with
DED
the Digital Error Detector !

Digital errors are the result of data loss and lead to faulty sound reproduction. This manifests itself as poor stereo imaging, lack of clarity, transient-response and dynamic - range distortions. In more severe cases, it leads to audible clicks and muting.

DEDTM is a sophisticated electronic device which for the first time allows continuous monitoring of the digital output signal and the digital link from CD / DVD players, DAT recorders and many other digital sources.

How is DED used?

The DED's front panel has 3 diodes: green - indicating power, yellow - indicating proper link and red - indicating data errors. Flickering of the error diode is an early warning that there is a problem with the media (CD, CD-R, CD-RW or DAT) and/or with the CD or DAT player.

DED and the CD-CHECK compact disc

DED can be used with a CD-CHECK disc and other tracking-testing discs (a CD player with optical or coaxial output is required). Play the CD-CHECK disc and observe the red error diode to flash whenever there is an error. Flash of the diode is accompanied by the distinctive click or muting of the audio signal which can be heard in speakers or headphones. This allows for the objective measure of the "error correction headroom" (i.e. player's ability to correct data errors) and tracking (i.e. player's ability to stay on track despite of disc surface or other errors). The CD-CHECK disc contains special digital signals and error patterns to quickly, safely and routinely perform tests.

Who benefits the most from using DED?

DED should be of importance to recording studios, radio stations, sound archives, duplication centers, service centers, audiology clinics, sound research centers, theaters, concert halls, ice skating events and to audiophiles and all those who are concerned about quality and faithful reproduction of music and sound. Intercepting errors will allow you to avoid embarrassing skipping and muting of sound during public performances and other events.
