Nine year old uses double-blind testing to embarrass cultists

Audio cultists read this. I"m not kidding! And neither is this kid!

Nine year old uses double-blind testing to conclude that "therapeutic touch" is bunk. Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) publishes study. "Therapeutic touch" cult say study was flawed. JAMA says research is sound.

Chicago (AP) Tuesday/March 31, 1998-ôA study conducted by a 9-year old girl for a science project concludes that 'therapeutic touch" in which a healer is supposedly manipulates a patient's energy field, is bunk. Emily Rossa found that 21 experienced practitioners were unable to detect the field they supposedly manipulate to heal. Her study was published in tomorrow's Journal of the American Medical Association. A co- founder of therapeutic touch scoffed at the findings and said the study was poor in design and methodology. But the editor of JAMA said the research is sound.

A 9-year has proven that 'therapeutic touch' is bullshit (sorry, but the word is appropriate for the claim of any cult). A small portion of her test procedure was shown on the TV show, 'Scientific American Frontiers". Her findings are being published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Do you think there's a parallel between this controlled test that disproved the "magic touch" myth and the same kind of test used to disprove the "golden ear" myth? This has to be embarrassing for those who make any kind of claim based on vested personal, financial, religious, or emotional interest. When a 9-year old knows more than the elite of the pseudo-medical cult doesn't that tell you something? At least the "therapeutic touch" cult didn't embarrass themselves any further by explaining away the findings with the left brain/right brain fairy tale or the Heisenberg Uncertainty principle! The mystics of the audio world should take note; perhaps there's a 5-year old out there getting ready to embarrass them! Before the cultists criticize a 9-year old they should do well to remember an old show business adage: Never follow a kid's act! I love it!
