Any serious measurements involving SLMs (Sound Level Meters), headphones, earphones and microphones require proper calibration (i.e. adjustment of the input and/or output level) and routine checkup of the equipment. Audio electronics (amplifiers, mixers, etc.) and transducers (mics, headphones, earphones and hydrophones) change properties with time. Routine testing with acoustical calibrators is, therefore, required to ensure accuracy and safety.

Professional Couplers
The Digital Recordings' Acoustical Calibrators Set is precision hand -made in Canada of high-quality aluminum. The oil ring provides a proper seal between the calibrator and the microphone or the sound level meter.
The Acoustic Calibrator Set
consists of 2 calibrators : DR1 -- a flat face
calibrator which can be used with any type of headphones and
DR2 -- a 2cc
cavity calibrator which can be used with any type of earphones. Both acoustic
couplers work very well with any inexpensive Sound Level Meters available from
Radio Shack stores or any other type of sound level meter or microphone with a
similar diameter. Smaller diameter microphones can be used with optional
custom-made adaptors. Precision of the calibration depends on the quality of
the measuring equipment and can be within the range +/- 0.1 dB to +/- 1dB
(or better).

Semi-Professional Coupler
In addition to the Acoustical Calbrators Set Digital Recordings offers Acoustical Calibrator DR1-R -- an inexpensive calibrator made of high-quality rubber. The precise hole provides a proper seal between the calibrator and the microphone or the sound level meter.
